The story
What would you trade
for everything?
The Soldier’s Tale combines live music and theater to tell the story of a soldier who trades his violin to the Devil in exchange for the promise of unimaginable wealth.
Through Stravinsky’s colorful, rhythmically charged score, the work explores temptation, ambition, and the consequences of getting everything we think we want. Written more than a century ago, its wit, energy, and insight remain remarkably relevant.
What to expect
More than a concert.
Seven instrumentalists and a cast of professional actors bring Stravinsky’s darkly witty fable to life in a brand-new staged production. Spoken drama, theatrical lighting, and costumes draw you into the story, while the music shifts between marches, dances, and sharply etched moments of suspense.
Experience the drama up close in The Vault at Capital One Hall, with all dialogue and narration performed in English.
